I can’t remember a time when creating something from upcycled materials wasn’t a part of my everyday life. From my mom picking up spindles from dilapidated homes and turning them into candlestick holders (remember decoupage??) to my grandmother Mama, saving old wallpaper books for me for when I visited during the summer and letting me create to my heart’s content… I thought I was in heaven. I graduated from college with a double major in Art Marketing and Commercial Design and one of my favorite classes was weaving. I loved how you could get lost in the process of creating. It's a very meditative and relaxing process!

In fishwarp, you’ll find unique, fun, colorful weavings and macrame that will add a cool element to any room in your house! I try to use locally sourced materials as often as possible, whether that means using crepe myrtle branches I find while walking my dog Ollie around the neighborhood, or through buying/using fabrics from various closet cast-offs and local thrift stores. Once I get all my materials home and start creating, my process involves a lot of layering of textures and colors while trying to create that perfect visual pop.

At the beginning of 2019, I took my macrame in a new direction and started featuring fiber wrapped tassels in my designs. And then the wrapped tassels evolved into looped fringe, which has now evolved into oversized soft looped sculptures! I'm excited with each and every piece that I create and love how each design builds upon itself to create a new piece of art.

fishwarp began one Christmas when I was having a hard time financially and wanted to make handmade presents for family and friends. Everyone loved the weavings that I made and I loved making them. Macrame soon followed the weaving and now here I am! I love having my Etsy shop so I can share all my art with you! I hope that both types of fiber art will bring as much enjoyment to your home as they did to me when I was creating them!
